Sketchbook

Photobucket
This is not a card! This is a card sketchbook! And if you don't know what that is....then just treat it like a notebook! No notebook covers should be boring.. And if i'm going to design fun and cute cards, i will need a fun and cute book to pen my ideas on! A few weeks ago when i started brainstorming for my this year's Christmas card series, i posted a post on sketching ideas.. So this is the book that i will be sketching in.

This is obviously, again, inspired by someone~ And she's a very famous lady in the cardmaking industry... named Kristina Werner. Love her, her cards and her cat.. Absolutely cute. So if you want to know where i got the template for the sketchbook and how to make it, just head over to this post here.

Photobucket
Upclose of the cover. Most important thing to note is not to make the cover too thick/dimensional or popped-up with foams because you will be writing/drawing inside. So the best supplies i could use were my washi tapes and doodlebug alphas, with minimal papers.

Photobucket
This is how the book look like and the papers cannot be too thick or the middle of the papers won't fold down well. And if you notice, there is nothing popping out from the cover.

Photobucket
Inside of the book remains simple and boxes are meant for me to sketch my card front layout.

Till then, i will be back from my holiday to post more cards or ideas!

Humpty Dumpty

Photobucket

One of the last few photos of myself as a baby being scrapped. Don't know why but i have very little photos of myself as a kid. Not sure if it is because my mum didn't take much (since i was the 3rd child) or if the others are lost when we moved house last time. Anyway, here's a pic of myself when i was only about 6months ago. SO MUCH BABY FATS~~~ I would say i don't find any resemblance of myself in this pic. haha..

Photobucket
Some brads, doily, SC camera wood veneer and washi tapes. As usual, using JB tab punch to decorate my page.

Photobucket
Majority of the papers used were from a paper pad i bought at Spotlight. I bought a baby boy and baby girl paper stack at $15 each because i know i'll be doing more baby layouts in future since im expecting my nephew to arrive at the end of this year. I do pray that he'll be born in 2013 though.... save him from the dragon baby crowd. Anyway, the papers were those thin type so it was a stack with about 60 pcs.. I also attempted to use a tracing paper as part of my layering because i saw alot of scrappers using brown paper bags or other materials in their layouts and it was an added interest! I'm glad i took this leap because i really love it! :)

Photobucket
I've been dying to use the kraft arrows that WaiSam die-cutted for me the last time we met. She has a silhouette machine and was kind enough to cut some pieces from the Summer Stamp School kit for me to play around. So i pasted them down and painstakingly stitched them on to create a more textured look.

Hope you have been enjoying my posts and it would be great if you can show your support by liking my facebook page. Your clicks will support me through my crafting journey.

Salvaging Photos

Photobucket
I made 2 A4 size layouts because the 2 photos were the same theme but took at different times. Both photos were taken on my council initiation, 1 i was a participant and another i was a leader. Both photos were initially framed in IKEA glass photo frames when given to me. And as i displayed it over a year plus, i found that one of the photo had stucked to the glass. Carefully, i decided to peel it out and even though some faces couldn't be saved, but i am glad i found out early and manage to salvage the rest.

Photobucket
The red badge represented "Marketing & Promotions" Department, which i am so proud off!

Photobucket
This is the second photo.. Both times the event happened at East Coast Park. So i got to use all my "beachy" theme papers.

Loving my JB Tab punch!

Harry's 60th Birthday

Photobucket
MLcraft got a request a month ago from a customer who needs a present for her Boss's birthday and wedding anniversary. I personally knew the Boss because i worked in that company temporary before and he was a guy who loves Bugs. So when i went and take a tour in my LSS to look for some inspiration, i spotted some "bugs" embellishments under the new Prima line. Even though the Prima line contains many flower images for a male liking..... but i think he will love them because he owns a Pest Control company.

With a $2 Diaso frame and a bomb spent on buying the paper pad and establishments, i proceeded to make a photo frame and card out of it. Good thing is that i still have alot of papers left so a second order shouldn't be hard to fulfill. PM me if you are interested in getting one too!

Now, lets make the photos do the talking!

Photobucket
Look at that Lady Bird bug! so cute!

Photobucket
Bought a black hook that is the 3M type and covered a mini shipping tag with the paper. Behind the tag holds a happy birthday sentiment and my customer's name.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Can't help but to do a stick pin and add on to the frame. Love the pearls and flower bead in my stash!

Photobucket
The birthday card for a message.

Photobucket
Cut alot of different banners and layered over it.

Simple internal furnishing.

We Were Smelly

Happy Friday everyone! Yesterday was National Day and i made full use of my day by heading to IKEA to get my new crafting table and shelves plus heading back home to watch TV with boyfriend. The National Day Parade was so touching to look at and the fireworks were spectacular! Photobucket
After weeks of card making, it was time to jump back to Scrapbooking a Layout since i had the photos ready printed already. So as the days of convocation are drawing nearer, i am starting to be afraid that i will miss my friends badly.. Hence i made this LO. These are my project mates who have been with me since Day 1 of school. They were the ones who introduced me to the Korean Buffet which is so nice and cheap! The only down side of it is that I will become SUPER smelly after walking out! LOL! Imagine your hair still smelling like korean bbq meat even after shampoo-ing twice and your bags and clothes smell like that too!

Photobucket
Journaling is hid behind the "Happy" Bingo card because i wanted to try making a pocket and using the clothes peg to pull the journal card out. Hmm.. it turn out to work well! Just that i spent alot of time deciding which layer to go down first and making sure that it will not be too slanted..

Sending this Layout for 2 challenges: Krafers Blog Challenge and Scrap With V August Sketch Challenge

Suitcase Mini

Photobucket

Finally got down to finish my suitcase mini album last weekend! I completed the suitcase (meaning the casing you see above) during the Scrappin' Love 2nd Birthday Party Workshop but there wasn't enough time for the album so we were given "homework" by the teacher to complete.

Photobucket
And ta-da! Here's the front of the cover. We actually did the Front and Back cover of the mini album during the workshop, but the others were all left blank le. Really love the use of all the washi tapes!

Photobucket
The back of the album. Got a chance to use the Big Bite during the workshop and it was really heavy and bulky. My fingers felt so tiny with it but it was really effortless to push through the eyelet. If you don't know, i am still using the hammering way to push the eyelets through my projects.

Holiday photos taken 2 years ago, thats why i may look different. Hopefully i look better now. haha!

Photobucket
The teacher aka the owner for Scrappin' Love started cleaning the stamps once the lesson was over. We did a bad thing by sitting there watching her clean while we chatted away. =p

Photobucket
This is Michelle.. who happens to be my good friend's colleague. Actually my good friend won the draw but she had to fly off to Aussie, so she gave her place to Michelle instead.

Photobucket
Here's the attendance for the day!

Heard that the kit for the suitcase mini was a sold-out! Congratulations Scrappin' Love!

Alan's 26th Birthday

Photobucket

It's Friday already and i finally got a chance to post this album cover that i did for my good friend, Alan. He held his 26th birthday at MBS and the theme was red carpet, which is also the translation on the scramble letters. This album was bought from Prints and there are polariods, pictures and messages left on the day of the party by all his guest.

I had fun making this cover because we went shopping together and MWL was having a 50% off which made me buy even more stuff but at least he got to choose things that he liked at a cheaper rate. hehe.. what an excuse. =p

Photobucket
Studio Calico Camera Wood Veneer blinged with silver glitter that were kinda dropping because i put too much. =/ One of the most time consuming thing was to glue the rhinestones down onto the sides of the page because his invatation had this broadway lights effect.

Photobucket
KaiserCraft Cupcake with velvet red ribbon and M3H flat back pearls.

Photobucket
The red velvet ribbon is to portray the red carpet feel and i love the studio calico human veneers! Really tempted to get the pack of it now.

Photobucket
Hot glued this 2 buttons along with a stretchable ribbon to create a closure so that the album will not flip open. I must say, this creation is my most statisfied one!

Photobucket
And the stretchable ribbon closes to the back of the camera pin cap.

Hope you have a great weekend ahead!

Favourite CNY Goodies

Photobucket
I've printed these photos a few weeks and have been holding off because i was working on other bigger projects (which i will share with you in the next few entries!). Can you imagine the struggle i had because i knew what i wanted to journal and what title it would be and how simple it is going to be as well!

So all i had to do was to find a sketch to kick start this layout. But i happen to find 2 challenges under my radar having a similar sketch feel. So based on Frosted Designs Sketch Along Tuesday Sketch #41 and Scrapbook Circle May Sketch Challenge, i begun my advanture!

Photobucket

Just in case you don't know... Other than visitings, small gamblings and reunion dinners, the snacks on the guest's living room table is not to be missed. I ate the above 3 items almost everyday and item no.2 is not easy to buy. Somehow, i can't find alot of people selling the honey coated cornflakes only. It always came with biscuits under it, which i don't like! So one day as i was roaming around facebook, i found my friend taking a photo of the honey coated cornflakes because she had just baked it! I thick-skinnedly requested to have it during our reunion dinner and she brought a container full of it! However, everyone at the reunion dinner didn't really like the sweetness of it so........ i thick-skinnedly took the whole container home to eat!!! *Evil*

High Distinction

Photobucket
This LO is one of the plainest LO i've ever done. No flowers, no glitters, no stamping. However, i did my usual DIY style of embellishments. Layered dollies at the bottom because this pic was taken during flora's birthday and we bought cupcakes for her. The cupcakes were so nice! I still cant forget the taste, but i've forgotten the shop name. hehe..

Photobucket
I choose the title "High Distinction" because prior to submitting every project, we will say "This is sure a High Distinction!". Which always ends up a Distinction and once a High Distinction. haha! Alphas by AC Thickers. Initially painted the "H" and "D" so to silver so it could stand out but it turn out the opposite way so i end up painting mod podge on it and sprinkling silver glitters. Saving my mistake! Punched tiny circles of alcohol inked papers to form a diagonal line of visual to the picture.

Photobucket
Made this stick pin using lace trim, feathers and butterfly punch from MS.

Photobucket
I've got to thank my awesome group mates in my uni days because it was the project group with so much fun even when we had so much last minute work to do! I remember we once completed a project within 1 week! 5000 word report~~ haha.. that was awesome!

Photobucket
Journaling for the LO.

Using this LO to play along in Frosted Designs and Bird is the Word.
