Let's Fly A Kite

 photo IMG_20141220_125437.jpg
Hi there! This card has been circulating the web for awhile..... Made this back in Dec 2014 and it has been on my instagram and proud to say, on Mama Elephant's re-gram too! If you are a fellow crafter, you will understand my excitement, right? When it was re-gramed, my followers shot up! So so so encouraging. Best year end gift from one my favourite stamping company.

And this was made possible because i had a customer who was very encouraging and inspiring too. He found my work somewhere (probably on Carousell) and he emailed me very clearly what he wanted on the box card, yet he trusted my skill to decide on other designs too.

Side track, there are sometimes when a customer wants something so specific that anything "extra" that you do will deem "not nice" by a customer. At those times, i feel sad and restricted because when someone engages me, i hope they love my taste and design concept already. However, no matter what, i learn from every order i get. I learn to ask specific questions before accepting orders. Example, are there any colors i should avoid or can i use cute images.

Anyway, back to the customer. He signed off with his Dayre account and i did some "background" check and found out he was a special person. To cut the story short, he suffered a stroke last year when he was just 20 years old. Read more here and do feel free to shower him with words of encouragement. :)

After reading his posts, i felt "connected" to him and i feel a bless to be able to make him a 6 years anniversary card for his girlfriend who stood by such tough times. I can't image what went on in her mind when she picked up a call telling her that her boyfriend is in the hospital. For me, i think i will break down mentally and physically. Hmmmm, i am not good in dealing with hospital news. =/

Panda MWAH!

 photo 10156022_655994037789125_216252226814925332_n.jpg
Finally got my hands down to using Mame Elephant's new border's die and Pandamonium stamp set! The panda's are so cute and the best part is, no coloring needed!

Love the new borders die because it has stitched edges. Got inspired by Emily Leiphart to do partial die-cutting and stamp the Pandas in the middle before die-cutting the rest of the edge. Struggled a little but i believe practice makes perfect. I didn't get the Pandamonium die-cut set because i felt the images are easy to fussy cut. Trying to save every penny to get other cuter stamp set!

Special Words

 photo _MG_5968.jpg
Today's card features using complicated pattern paper from a paper pack! There is a sheet of paper that contains all the special words commonly used to describe a partner. I went through every word and picked the unique ones (words) to be pop-ed up. As you know, every pad has 2-3 sheets of the same pattern paper.

There are many paper pads that i have bought and never got around to figuring out how to use those complicated sheets of paper. The above image are some of the patterns from We Are Memory Keeper's Antique Chic Paper Pad. I am never good with using darker shades of papers but this pad somehow caught my eye and i got my hands on it. The bottom row, middle piece of paper is what i cut out from.

As the words are so complicated, i do not want to complicate it more. So i added a few pearls to finish off the card.

Great Journey Together

Photobucket

So i haven't shared with you all the card i made for my beast (yes, i'm the beau. lol.) on our 4th year anniversary. We had a very nice and expensive dinner with good food and good wine. We promised no gifts to be exchanged but i still end up buying him a gift because it was something that fitted him very well. Ok, so i got him a camera cufflink, because he is a photographer.. And the cufflink looked like a spycam on his wrist. lol.

Anyhow, i started this card with a totally different concept. Wanted to go for a camera theme card or even a cute card with salt and pepper image from Lawn Fawn Stamp set, but like what you see...... i ended up a long way off it. It's not that i don't like, in fact, i love it.. just that i am surprised that my idea took me so far with such a nice title. :)

And this is the inside of the card.

Hope you enjoyed your week so far!

FML03

I finally broke into my Flourishes Stamp Set "I Love Roses Set #40". To be honest, i'm buying more stamp sets than i am using them. And this is one of the older ones that i've bought because i love the rose image so much even though it is not exactly the cutesy type that i usually use. You will notice i use alot of Lawn Fawn, Penny Black and probably coming soon, Paper Smoochers stamps. On the bright side, i've scrapped alot lately and the pictures are starting to be back dating! Moving on......

Watercolored this rose with Spun Sugar and barn door distress inks.. the paper became too saturated so i had to layer it with UTEE embossing powder to save it from crumbling down after popping up with 3D foams. Eeks!
