Cheese Please

 photo IMG_20150529_001137.jpg
Hello there! i'm back to share another card from Gerda Steiner Designs. I hope this digital stamp is up in her shop now because i am scheduling this post. If you follow me on instagram, i'm currently having a great time in Osaka Universal Studio Japan! Woohooo!

 photo IMG_20150517_140903.jpg
i started of by printing 2 of the same image in the same size. Next, i used copies to color the rabbit. I am recently in love with those unicorn rainbow kind of colors so i mixed up the yellow and pink to create a unique "unicorn" rabbit! Ok, the rabbit itself is very cute already, but i think i just made it Uuuuunique! hehe! On the other image, i only coloured in the camera because i intend to cut it out and pop it up with foam squares.

 photo IMG_20150529_001248.jpg
Over here, you can see the dimension of the camera. You will also notice that the edges of my cut images are black. That is because, i use a black moment marker to ink the edges - it get rides of the white core from my white cardstock.

For the background papers, i used a summer theme Echo Park Paper pad because it had theme parks and having fun time prints. Definitely suits the sentiment from Mama Elephant.

I will also like to take the opportunity to thank all my fans for the good times that they had made me have while creating my cards! Your words of encouragement are the greatest! :)

Thanksgiving Squirrel

Hi everyone! I've been so tied up with card orders recently that i haven't been in the mood to blog this post. This card had been completed 2 weeks ago but October is not over yet! So isn't too late to share a thanksgiving card. I am back today to share with you a short tutorial on how to make autumn leaves and getting your fingers inky too! I used the above digital image from Gerda Steiner Designs (which can be found HERE!) and printed out only the squirrel with the pumpkin.

 photo IMG_20141009_193025.jpg
I colored this image using my Copic markers and used my Uniball Signo Broad white pen to dot the areas with the black dots on the pumpkin. The black dots are a very good indicator to tell you where are the shadows on the pumpkin. Follow the black dots and those will be where your darkest color will be. And from this picture, you will see that i printed this same image 3 times. Read on to find out why!

 photo IMG_20141009_193144.jpg
These are the colors used for the pumpkin and the squirrel.

 photo IMG_20141009_193305.jpg
Next, i used Vintage Photo distress ink to stamp 3 autumn leaves from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Falling Leaves Rubber stamp set. Before the ink dried, i poured clear embossing powder over and heat set it. The embossing powder will create texture and accent the leave vines.

 photo IMG_20141009_193226.jpg
Recently, i found greater joy in using sponge daubers than blending foams because they are easier to control and have lesser inked areas. I used Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Ripe Persimmon to add colors onto the leaves. The ripe persimmon should be concentrated in the middle and the vintage photo should surround the outer area of the leaves at the last stage. The darker colors at the side of the leaves will create a more dimensional effect.

 photo IMG_20141009_193651.jpg
Next, i used Crafters Workshop Mini Wood Grain stencil with clear embossing paste to create my card background. The embossing paste works like a heated embossing powder, which resist inks. Using Hero Arts Butter Bar ink and a sponge dauber, i lay the color over it and end off wiping with a semi damped cloth to remove any excess ink over the embossing paste.

Now, it is time to assemble my card.

I colored 3 separate images:
1. I colored the squirrel body only and used a scallop circle die to cut.
2. I colored the squirrel head only and cut it out. I mounted on a single layer of foam squares.
3. I colored the pumpkin only and cut it out. I mounted this on a double layer of foam squares so that it is higher than/more popped out that the squirrel head. Afterall, the squirrel is suppose to be hiding behind the pumpkin! Oh, remember to put the squirrel hands over the pumpkin using a dot of glue.

The Thanks sentiment is from Lawn Fawn diecut. I have been in love with Felt materials recently. I went to Diaso to get those cheap thinner type of felt to use. Because it is thinner, it is also harder to cut when you run it through the big shot. For me, I stick my felt onto a piece of copier paper to solve this problem! It will cut like a butter after that and you will have no trouble adding liquid adhesives to stick it down later on.

Ok, that's all for now! I hope the numerous techniques i have mentioned earlier has brought some inspiration for you to get crafty now! See you soon!

The Girl By The Swing

 photo _MG_8084.jpg
Have you seen her before? Her name is called Gorjuss Girl and she has been featured in alot of wallets, notebooks, mugs etc merchandises in gift stalls. Even though she doesn't have a smile on her face, but the person who drew her portrayed her expressions through her "posture". Even though the default colorings for her is always dark and gloomy, e.g. maroon, grey, black, dirty green etc, but i choose not to color her this way! i prefer my images to be in happy colors or should i say, brighter colors? :) Anyway, i couldn't think of a sentiment that matched her, so i decided to make this into a "thank you" = 10q card.

 photo _MG_8116.jpg
Oh! And surprise surprise, she was watercolored! haha.. that explains why her face is so white and her clothes have not enough gradient. Got to keep practicing yea?

Thanks For Being A Friend

 photo _MG_8077.jpg
Watercoloring has been the "In" technique recently in the crafting world and to be honest, i started with watercoloring as my go-to coloring at the beginning because i thought it was easy. BUT, it wasn't easy for me at all. Firstly, the papers peeled because i had no funds to invest in better quality papers. Then the colors won't stay inside the line! Geez! I was really bad at it. So i switched over to color pencils with Mineral Spirit blending and then i moved on with copics. And even though Copics are expensive and hard to use too. But at least it kept my coloring within the lines (OCD about it) and to me, if you are keen to learn coloring - LOOK at the images that are online. Take this images as references as you color your own. Look at where is colored with light colors and where has dark colors to help you on the shadows and highlights. The light color and dark colors will allow your images to appear dimensional - not flat.

So here's a card i am sharing today with the CC Design image colored with Copics. And the sentiment is from Mama Elephant stamped on a piece of watercolor paper which was watercolored with Inktense pencils over the Tim Holtz circle stencil. Even though it doesn't look like circles (because the water sipped under the stencil as i was working on it) but i love the vibrant colors from the Inktense pencils!

For The Good Times

 photo _MG_8073_2.jpg
Recently I gave in to my temptations and purchased the Derwent Inktense Color Pencils. It is not cheap, as compared to my Classic Faber Castell color pencils and while i am trying to save up to get Prisma Color Pencils, Inktense was something extra if i had. So i purchased the box of 12 colors instead and happily skipped home.

The colors were sooooo vibrant and it needed some getting use to. The above image is by Wild Rose Studio and the grey was picked up with a wet paintbrush directly from the pencil tip. Had to use alot of water to water it down and lighten it. I actually added Clear Wink A Stella over the flowers but it is a pity my camera couldn't pick the shimmer up. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant "Thank You" stamp set.

Add a dot of glue in the middle of the Martha Stewart punch Butterfly to pop the wings up and give it a dimensional feel.

All About Cats

You have seen how the process goes! So here's the end products of the Cat cards I am suppose to make. 20 cards in total, 5 cards for each theme. Theme: Birthday, Thank you, Christmas and non-sentiment cards.

Wanted to keep the cats looking the same throughout the 20 cats, so i picked Penny Black's cat to work on it. Saved my time too, cause i can stamp a bunch and color all the way while working out the layouts in my mind.

Just For You

 photo IMG_7269.jpg
A quick mini card made for someone when i sent over a happy mail.

This was real simple - Mist and stamp.

I think i used either Mister Huey's Buttercup or Sunshine and Opaque White. Stamp from Unity and Hero Arts.

TY01

Photobucket
Had the urge to play with my alcohol inks today and i remembered an ink bleeding picture i saw on Pinterest the other day, so i got to my crafting desk and started making one. Not too sure if you realize, but i was trying to make rainbow colors, but i didnt have yellow ink to make it up for it.

Photobucket
Struggled for a very long time trying to figure out what sentiment to put.... Was choosing between "Love you", "miss you" or "thank you". Inked the edges of the tag and popped it up on the card.

And a simple finishing inside.

Thank You Temp Staffs

Photobucket So majority of my big roadshows are over and i started issuing my temp staff their pay cheque. Instead of just having a piece of paper/cheque, i decided to make them a card. Something easy to replicate and versatile enough. The butterflies are for the females staff while the typewriter image shown below are for the male staff. Photobucket Photobucket For the females, i used alpha stickers to form their name. Photobucket And for the guys, i formed "thank you" because their names are written in the front. There were just lots of stamping and inking to do.

Anyway, one long weekend has pass. How i wish it was a longer one, like thur, fri PH. haha.. So greedy of me. =p

However, it was a well spent weekend. Lots of scrapping, sleeping and watching of tv. =p
