Introducing Playful Kitten Clear Stamp

Hi Everyone! Hope you had came over from the Gerda Steiner Design blog post to see the 2nd card!

 photo IMG_20150517_133720.jpg
As you know, the 1st card at GSD blog was towards the Clean and Simple idea, which i seldom make because i have tons of pretty pattern papers to pick and use from! So i always can't resist to not use my pattern papers on my cards.

 photo IMG_20150517_134347.jpg
Here's a second card using the kitten hiding under the sheets stamp. I imagined the kitten in the laundry room playing around the dirty sheets on the floor and so i dug out my Paper Smooches Squeaky Clean Stamp set too to create a scene.

 photo IMG_20150517_140808.jpg
I usually color everything else first and leave the "main" focal point to be the last because most of the time i know what colors it will be. For this cat, i know it will either brown, orange or grey. After i color the sheets above it's head. I knew i can't color the cat orange because the sheet on the right is orange too. I did't want it to be grey because the washing machine and basket is grey too. So i was left with the color brown and i felt it was perfect because it has a contrast to the peach color sheets above it's head.

Here's another close up look of the card i made. Hope you like it and enjoy your week ahead!

Love, Madey.

Happy Chinese New Year

 photo _MG_8679.jpg

Hello everybody! As a Chinese, we celebrate the Chinese New Year and eat lots of food during this period of time! We will go to relatives and friends house to do visiting and by custom, we eat there too. So imagine when i have 4 houses to go in a day? 4 meals in total! We will often eat steamboat because it is a good way to sit together and eat hot food constantly. No worries that the dishes will turn cold! Other than proper food, we drink lots of sweet packet drinks and have lots of tidbits. Thank goodness, i love tidbits! So i am a very happy girl! ^.^

Other than eating, we collect ang baos (red packets) too! We exchange auspicious phrases and the married couples will the single ones (which is me!) a red packet as a form of blessing. In a few years time i will be getting married, so my days of getting a red packet is cutting short! And in return, i will be giving out red packets to the kids! The cycle continues~

I made the above 3 cards using Mama Elephant's cosmic stars stamp set. This year is the Goat year under the Lunar calendar, so luckily the cosmic stars has Aries and Capricorn to represent 2 different kind of Goats. Pisces are 2 fishes that happen to represent a Chinese auspicious phrase that we often use. Sentiments by Micia Stamp which were bought by my friend from Taiwan. They are so lovely and pretty but slightly costly. Perhaps next year i will be doing red packets instead since there was a demand this year. ;)

Housewarming

 photo _MG_8674.jpg

As i grow older, i start attending more housewarming parties, so i should always have a few cards for back-up because going to a housewarming always accompanies with a gift!

Everyone is getting married and owning a house, as for me...... i will be having my own house too - in about, 3 years time? It is currently under construction and all i can dream about now is..... HOW SHOULD I DO UP MY CRAFT ROOM?! hahahah... It's so nice to have a partner who supports what you like to do and even nicer that he thinks my works are nice too.

When it comes my turn for my housewarming, i am pretty sure i will put up a wishlist so my friends don't have a headache on what to get for my house and i in return get what i really need. Win-win, yea?

Back to this card i am sharing today! Using Gerda Steiner Birthday Pig digital stamp and Gerda Steiner New Home digital stamp to create this card.

When the title of the stamp reads "birthday", it doesn't mean that it must be used for a birthday card! Sit back, look at the cute image and think what other cards you can challenge yourself with! As for me, i looked through other digitals and found the New Home digital stamp to be the perfect fit!

Coloured using Copics markers and i made a slight mistake. i chose the pink shades a little too dark. I was aiming for a brighter pink pig, but it turned out to be a little too dark. =/ Couldn't bring myself to throw this away, so i sadly accept this poor fate on the pig.

Sentiment from Simon Says Stamp "Happy" sentiments stamp set.

That's all for today folks! Have a great week!

The Bunny Ear

 photo _MG_8606.jpg
As i have mentioned before, watercoloring is always a "Nahhhh...." for me. However, i recently watched a youtube video called "Bokeh Made Easy by Wplus9 Design" and i was so inspired and hyped to try this technique! Even though i do not have the traditional watercolor palettes, but i have Derwent Inktense Pencils which are used for watercoloring too!

So i used Poppy Red, Tangerine and Sun Yellow for my background! Instead of using circle stencils, i used the Tim Holtz Splatters Layering Stencil with Colorbox Frost White Pigment ink to create the white spots. Oh my my, i love this!

 photo _MG_8609.jpg
If you know your Honey Bunny stamp set well, you will know that the bunnies are either both ears down or both ears standing up. So what i did was, i masked off one of the drooped ear of the bunny sitting down and stamped. And then i stamp a propped up ear from another standing bunny over the image. Next, i fussy cut the image out and place it over a vellum circle with carrots on the ground. The grass was also watercolored and diecut with MFT Grass die.

As for the sentiment, i choose "I'll be here if you need a hug" from In My Heart Stamp set and mask off the word "hug" before stamping. Then i mask off all the alphabets, leaving the letter "n" to stamp after the "a" to make it "an". Lastly, i took the sentiment "I'm all ears!" from Honey Bunny Stamp set and mask all the lettering leaving the word "ear" only. Stamped it and got my custom-made sentiment!

So now, the bunny has a listening ear for someone who is feeling down!

Start Every Morning With A Smile

 photo _MG_8081.jpg
Another stamped image by Karber Stamp. Told you they have very cute girls!

As I colored this image with color pencils and blended with mineral spirits, I imagined her having hot chocolate drink and hotcakes for her breakfast! Sounds like something you can get from Mcdonald's yea?

 photo _MG_8111.jpg
I used papers from Carta Bella Hello Again and a breakfast sentiment from Lawn Fawn with sequins from my LSS and Pretty Pink Posh. I love Pretty Pink Posh 4mm sequins because they are really small and pretty. Their quality is hard and sturdy so it doesn't making handling the small sequins difficult to deal with. Would certainly recommend you to try it!

Sending Happy Thoughts

 photo _MG_8076.jpg
I am still in love with Wild Rose Studio stamp set and i have many more that are still not used yet. So bear with me as i slowly create more works from their stamp collection.

Today features the cute cat opening a box of flowers. This image speaks more than just a mundane birthday card but more of a "I Miss You" card. I believe this image will cheer someone up or it is good to give to someone who happens to be ill or.... heartbroken? Possibilities are endless.

Image colored by color pencils and blended with Gamsol. Sentiment by Simon Says Stamp and papers are from Amy Tangerine 6x6 Pad. Drop me a comment if you would like to know the exact name of the products!

Lovely New Home

 photo IMG_20140608_150224.jpg
It's been awhile since i got the Simon Says Stamp Air Vent die. It is a unique die that the market doesn't have something similar. Got to admit, it's a little challenging for me to use it.

Laid a strip pattern paper at the back to bring in some colors to the card but the main focus was the pieces at the front. The house, arrow and "&" shapes were all the left over from the Amy Tangerine "Ready Set Go" diecut shapes pack. I used the rest on a layout but these few pieces didn't seem to fit onto my layout.

Anyway, the house image screams for a housewarming card to be made!

Used Simon Says Stamp "Inside & Out Sayings" Stamp set for the sentiment and Technique Tuesday "In Stitched" Stamp set to create the wavy stitched lines.

Upcycling A Can

My mum passed me an aluminum can the other day and told me she wanted me to do a simple deco for her to put her office pens. Hmmmm... simple......? Not quite possible~ I had to do something cute! Something complicated! So she won't throw it away after using for a few months! So i went ahead to choose the animals that she loved!

Lawn Fawn Critters In The Farm are perfect for this!

Gesso-ed the background. Painted it with blue and green acrylic paint. Stamp and copic color the images before cutting them out. Great challenge was arranging them and rotating the can again and again so the images look "logical". I mean, i won't want to see 2 rabbits side by side... haha!

Next, i applied tons of mod podge to seal the images onto the can. Had to press them down before moving on to the next image because the can is round and the images kept popping up while the glue is wet! Kept telling myself "Patience.......".

And so, ta-da! Love the vibrant colors and cute animals!

Snuggles (Part 2)

 photo _MG_5971.jpg
Hello! I am back with Ms Snuggles (Her name is not called Snuggles, i gave the name to her! haha!) and she's being paper pieced again! She makes me want to lie in bed and hug my Elmos whenever i see her. And of cause, she brings a smile to my face too. Stamped with SSS "You" clear stamp set and added a heart die-cut next to the sentiment.

 photo _MG_5979.jpg
Added skeleton leaves and mulberry flowers to bring out the sweet look.

Using The Cut-Outs

 photo _MG_5975.jpg
If you had read my previous post, i talked about making use of complicated pattern papers. So here i am challenging myself again to use this paper pad. This time round, i use the sheet that had elements to cut out from. Which is what you see, the inspirational quote and the little black dress image.

 photo _MG_5978.jpg
Added pearls and thick burlap string to add dimension to the card.

By the way, the small key was from a necklace that i no longer wear. Felt such a petty to throw it away, so i used it on this card! It will be a necklace that i will wear on a little black dress. :)

Snuggles

 photo _MG_5965.jpg

Went to my LSS and the owner was telling me that this darling is a limited edition stamp (not sure if he is lying, but she's too cute to resist) so i grabbed it and came back home to color her.

Colored with Copic Markers and paper pieced her clothes. She's the perfect image to paper pierce those PJs using webster pages paper.

I used woodgrain washi tape to create the woodgrain background panel. To be honest, I haven't got the slightest idea to use the woodgrain washi tape since i bought it because it is so dark and "heavy", like non-feminine. haha, no idea why i think so. But i guess i nailed it this case.

 photo _MG_5990.jpg
Die cut a sheet of tracing paper using a doily die and laid it behind the image to create a soft touch. Finally the 2 hearts that are at the top are coated with Fruit Punch Ranger Stickles.

All About Cats

You have seen how the process goes! So here's the end products of the Cat cards I am suppose to make. 20 cards in total, 5 cards for each theme. Theme: Birthday, Thank you, Christmas and non-sentiment cards.

Wanted to keep the cats looking the same throughout the 20 cats, so i picked Penny Black's cat to work on it. Saved my time too, cause i can stamp a bunch and color all the way while working out the layouts in my mind.

Party like a Rockstar

 photo _MG_5964.jpg
Hi Everyone! Here's a card made using washi tapes cut into different sizes of circle and i used MAMA Elephant stamp set to stamp the hand sign and speech. Speech bubble is from Simon Says Stamp die.

When i saw this sentiment, i totally remember the days when i was still a wild girl, drinking and clubbing my wednesday, friday and saturday nights away. And there was really a song called "Party like a Rockstar"! haha...so i always smile when i see this sentiment.

And so happen the day before i was making this card, i went to a Pub in Holland Village and there was a live band that sang Rock songs for the night. The girl had such a power-pack voice and she sang all the songs so man-ly in a female way. One of the famous song sang was "We will we will ROCK YOU~" I hope you heard before this song too! :)

Flying Away

 photo IMG_7273.jpg

Saw a smiliar card on Pinterest the other day and i've decided to do one too because it is a good way to use up my Maya Road house chipboard and colorful buttons. Not forgetting, i recently got the Amy Tangerine stamp set which is i think is under the Yes, Please collection - so it has a roll of house stamp which fits just right at the bottom of the card!

I think the most tedious part is threading those button holes with floss and sticking them down with my glue dots.

I understand people always love using glue dots and they seem to use them very easily. But not for me! I always fumble around the roll of glue dots and it doesn't come off from the packaging backing easily. haha.. It is always like my embellishment stuck on the backing instead of the glue dot sticking onto my embellishment. I think i have butter fingers~

Anyway, hope this card brought a smile on your face!

Parachute Boy - Wishing you the best

 photo IMG_7270.jpg

Another stamp set that i got from Deasy Designs before they retired their physical stamp set! The copic coloring emphasizing on the parachute boy and the rest of the paper colors towards more white. And of cause not forgetting the sentiment by Kristina Werner from Simon Says Stamp.

Even if the physical stamp set has retired, you can still purchase their digital stamp set because they are still operating online! Furthermore, their digital stamp set has more images than the physical ones. I am not into digital stamp sets because i don't own a printer in my room. Too troublesome for me to print them. haha... or should i say, i am too lazy.

Everyday i look back on the day i started scrapbooking and cardmaking.... never regretted and would like to move forward from here... Wish me luck!

Happy Easter

 photo _MG_5540.jpg
These bunnies/rabbits are pure cuteness. And i made this card for my friend who was baptized on Easter Day. Congrats girl!

Anyway, recently I've been eyeing on Holland Lop bunnies.I didn't actually have a pet before except for Fishes. My house used to have hamsters last time but that belonged to my siblings. Anyway, i've been craving to have a pet who is good to snuggle with yet not smelly. Smelly as in those Guinea Pig smelly - those are like "OMG smelly".... And Holland Lop seem to be easy to maintain like a good pet to make a start in taking care of another life. I'll see how......

Happy 50th Anniversary

Happy New Year Everyone! I know i am pretty late for all my Christmas and New Year greetings!

After the Christmas Flea at Lock + Store, i spent the rest of the 2012 making and delivering all the customised card orders. And as the holiday season approached, i dropped my papers and scissors to celebrate the holiday! Numerous Christmas parties to attend and i went for my holiday trip during 27th to 30th Dec! So right after coming back, AGAIN celebrated the New Year together with my friends and family. On the 26th Dec, our family welcomed a new addition to the family, which my my nephew, Caleb. He was supposed to be a Xmas baby because my sister went into the hospital on the 24th, but i guess he decided to stay in and only came out on the 26th morning. haha..! So other than my busy personal life, i also had a very busy full time job to attend to. *Phew* So that explains my disappearance in here and on facebook!

Anyway, i don't have any new card to share, but here's an old one that i made in Dec and i would like to share with you all.

Photobucket
We don't very often see people celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.. Hence, I'm a lucky one who is honored to do a card for them. Congratulations~

A different style, but I'm happy with it.

Lets Play.

I've been rushing birthday and christmas cards orders the past week and i think i have enough photos to update you guys for the next few weeks.. Even though they are sold, but i will still make more of them because MLcraft will be participating in a Christmas Market in Bedok this december! It's a step ahead and i will update with more information shortly.

I will be flying off tomorrow night and i think i should share a card with you before i fly of for a short 4 days holiday!

Photobucket

The big house is a Maya Road chipboard, being painted with a strong bright color - yellow, to let it pop. The smaller houses are Jenni Bowlin chipboards that are painted with pistachio color paint.. really makes me feel like eating pistachios now. hehe.. The birdies are from Lawn Fawn while the Sentiment by Paper Smooches. And so you can see, my supplies are all over the place by different brands and accumulated through my years of scrapbooking.

Photobucket
And the inside of the card which is decorate so nicely because i gave this card for a friend who invited me to his housewarming last Sunday. It was really nice to be able to attend my first housewarming ever. And finally i get to see what the BTO flats look like nowadays. If you are not from Singapore...... Singapore flats used to be big and spacious.. but nowadays............... it's shrinking and getting so much smaller. It's like the size of 3 room flat last time is the size of a 4 room flat now. So each room is getting smaller. And so i told my boyfriend "what is going to happen to my scraproom next time~~!"

Photobucket
The envelope with a little decorative element.
